JIDFLIX is fully self-hosted on a home NAS running Unraid. Jellyfin catalogues the library and streams it to your devices. No cloud, no subscriptions, no ads.

JIDFLIX works from anywhere in the world — no VPN, no special setup. The same https://jidflix.xyz address connects you at home, at work, or abroad.

Want something that isn't in the library? Request it yourself through Jellyseer at jellyseer.jidflix.xyz — log in with your normal JIDFLIX account, search, and hit request. Bonus: Fladder can link directly to Jellyseer so you can request without leaving the app — no other client supports this yet.

> subtitles

Turn subtitles on or off, pick a language, and adjust size/offset from the playback menu (usually the speech-bubble icon). Most titles ship with embedded tracks; if a language is missing, request it via Jellyseer or ping Jid.

> offline_downloads

Jid's own method: open the browser version of JIDFLIX on your phone, download any title straight to your phone's storage, then play the file back in VLC. Prefer an in-app route? Findroid and Swiftfin can download media for offline playback too.

> troubleshooting

Stream buffering or failing? Work the checklist: ① confirm the core is up at ./status · ② lower the quality in your app's playback settings · ③ switch to direct play if available · ④ still stuck? ping Jid with the title + which client you're using.

> simultaneous_streams

Multiple people can watch at the same time — there's no hard seat limit. Heavy transcoding on several streams at once is what strains the server, so prefer direct play when you can.

> profiles_and_history

Each person gets their own account, which means your own continue-watching row, watch history, and preferences. This is why accounts are personal — sharing one login mixes everyone's history together.

> supported_formats

Common formats (MP4, MKV, HEVC, AV1…) play fine. Rare or unusual codecs may need transcoding, and a few might not play on every client — if a file won't play, report the title and your app so it can be fixed.

> direct_play_vs_transcode

Direct play sends the original file untouched — best quality, zero server load. Transcoding converts on the fly when a device can't play a format — it costs server CPU. Prefer direct play where possible.

> quality_settings

In your app's playback settings, set the bitrate to Max when on home wifi. Lower it on mobile data if streams buffer.
